My words with never express my gratitude to so many people
who made The 3rd Annual Care About CRANIO 5K in 2016 such a
blessing!!! Thank you all for your encouragement, support, participation and
gifts!!! Through all of you, God provided over $6,500 for Sophia's medical
expenses!!! He is a good good Father!! I am thankful for the amazing people He
allows me to enjoy life with and that I have had the opportunity to coordinate
this event each year. I am so excited to share with you the plans for our 4th
Annual 5K that will be held on October 14, 2017!!

Each year, He has
specifically given me peace about who or what to support usually by early
summer and at least by July. 2017 has been a little different. Honestly, mid to
end July, I was questioning even continuing the 5K. I recognize all my
thoughts, emotions and feelings now were attacks from the enemy just trying to
detour me from the blessing that God is going to allow!! It excites me when I
look back over the past few months and see God going before me. He has been lining
up details of this years’ event without my awareness. Why am I surprised??? God
plans with exquisite love and mercy each of our days. Not a single moment takes
Him by surprise and every step we take is covered by His unconditional love!!!
So….here is the story in a nutshell! I saw a flyer for a “Paint
the Positive” Party at Gerson’s Garden (my favorite downtown Roanoke restaurant)
back in March. I love a fun night out so I planned on going. I read that it was
a fundraiser for The Children’s Advocacy Center and would be held at The Baker
Family Barn. I’ve known the Baker family since high school and had heard that I
must see their newly renovated barn! Unfortunately, I did not get to go to the
paint event but I kept feeling a notion to learn more about what the fundraiser
was for and how Mrs.Kay was involved. However, I never followed up on my
notions. Months went by……
On July 9, 2017 OUT OF NO WHERE….MRS.KAY messaged me on
Facebook. She was inquiring if I knew of anyone teaching exercise classes or
something health beneficial that she might could offer at her barn. I took that
opportunity in my response to ask her about her involvement with the Children’s
Advocacy Center. At this point, I began praying that if this might be an
organization that the 5K could support that The Lord would give me peace and
clear sign that He was saying YES to C.A.C. being our beneficiaries this year.
On July 26, Mrs.Kay came by the clinic to give me more information about C.A.C.
She was unknowing that I was considering her for this event. I think she really
thought I was more inquiring about the medical aspect of the organization. I
prayed before the meeting that God would give me that clear sign and peace.
Throughout our 15 minute conversation, I had surreal peace that could only come
from Him. Then at the very end, Mrs.Kay shared that she was reading a book that
was speaking to her called “Present Over Perfect”. Y’ALL!!!!! I READ THAT BOOK
AT THE BEGINNING OF DECEMBER!!! I WANT TO SHARE THE PICTURE AND THE INSTAGRAM
POST I MADE WHEN I FINISHED IT…..AS WELL AS A PICTURE OF MY PRAYER BOARD AT
HOME CURRENTLY.
“PRESENT OVER PERFECT” HAS BEEN MY THEME FOR MY LIFE IN
2017. WHAT OTHER CONFIRMATION DO I NEED!!!??? THANK YOU LORD!!! HIS
FAITHFULNESS TO ME TRULY OVERWHELMS ME BECAUSE YOU ALL KNOW I AM SO
UNDESERVING. SO…..HELP ME SUPPORT TRI-COUNTY CHILDREN’S ADVOCACY CENTER THIS
YEAR PLEASE!!!
The C.A.C. works along DHR and police in Randolph, Chambers
and Tallapoosa counties to perform assessments for children who have been
sexually violated or suffered abuse. These children are then offered FREE
counseling and therapy by trained professionals. These same professionals are
going into our public schools and providing education programs for our children
to know what sexual misconduct is and how to safely report it. Just last year
over 300 cases were investigated and children helped!!! The numbers took my
breath away!!! I want to help these kids who have suffered these awful acts and
educated those that are unaware that it can happen. It’s a scary world. I am
strongly supporting this organization to broaden the knowledge of our county
children as to what can happen and how they can receive help. Even more so, I
want to continue to help those that have endured such crimes and build them up
to overcome the emotional and physical detriment. I would love to share more with you and hope
